It’s 15:50 and we’re sitting in the business class lounge at
Heathrow waiting for our Kenyan Air flight to be called. No idea what the gate
number is yet, but I’m sure that will be announced soon. Our gate eventually comes up and we wander a
short distance from the lounge and board the plane. We’re in the front row (1) and have the 2
seats to the left by the window and the left hand seat of the central 2
seats. The plane is a Dreamliner, so
must be fairly new, but already looks a bit scruffy. The seat configuration is nowhere near as
nice as Vietnam Airlines, but is fine as we have a flat bed and it’s
comfortable. We have the duff flight
attendant who might have a lot of stripes on the sleeves of his uniform but is
rather inefficient. We start off with
drinks and I order a G&T - it’s a no go as there is no tonic on board the
aircraft anywhere!! Ditto for Chris when asking for a Virgin Bloody Mary –
there’s no Worcester Sauce. We made do with Tusker beers instead. After a nice enough dinner we all tried to
get some kip as the flight is only 8 hours and we were due to land 30 minutes
ahead of schedule at 4.30am!!!
